I think Harriet Tubman does it because she has been in their place, and don’t want others to suffer from this , grateful that someone came to free her; so she will be there for the other slaves when they need help . I think she is very strong willed and helpful. I don't think she can gain anything besides trust and popularity in this trip. Still, I dont think it is worth a life, so I think the reason is more on a sacrificing term than greedy and hoping to get some thing I return.
I remember once doing a kind of thing that can only mean harm to me to help others , but I still do it. My best friend was being laugh at at and had a fight with another classmate, which is short of like a bully, so I have to speak up for him and the bully hated me too, the hatred lasted till fifth grade, when he suddenly turned nice and we turned into friends.
So I think it is very brave of Tubman to do so, and her actions result in benefits of others, and a lot less to her to be worth the effort, I respect her selflessness and her love toward the slaves.
