Journal 70: Narrator

A lot of books are naratted by a narrator, sometimes they can not be relied on because they only talk about one side of the story and might sometimes be very unfair. It is pretty much like a normal story where the bad guy is always evil and must be eliminated, and everyone should hate him, no one, howerver, talks abotut eh bad guys view, or his story, or how he gotten bad.
The narrator in this story clearly cannot be trusted since he asked the audience “why do you think of me sa mad? The disease sharpened my senses…” this is like asking the audience “why do you not like me?” it proven that the narrator has a disease and also is pretty much mad. We should not trust what the narrator says since he is a madmen, nor should we believe what he says.
If I remember correctly, these type of storiesa re first-person narrative, and are often very unbalanced and are only look at one sid’s view of the conflict. This story are often entertaining since we can closly relate to one character’s feelings and better understand and establishing a closer link to a character. The author might wat to establish a unliable character to prove his madness, thus making the story more interesting. By using the murderer as the narrator, the author can express the killers emotional feelings. It would be pretty lame if a offcer just wrote, today we caught a madman who killed a old man and hid his heard under the floor

Journal 69: Scary Stories

I usually avoid scary books and movies since I get scared easily and usually keep on scaring myself frequenty since I was very small. I use to imagine aliens poping out of every corner to capture me or just to scare me to death. I think the main thing that a ghost story have to focus on is is a sudden unexpected appearance, that works very well in visual movies, but I cannot not prove that it does in a book. The ghostory might want to focus ont eh scary part where the plot is scary, and not sudden unexpected events for example” suddenlya  zombie, with skins decaying and hollow eyes, jawbones haning losly beneath the skull, with some meat still stuck to it, jump in front of jimmy’s face and yelled “CHEWBACCA” it will eb very scary when visualized, but a very pathetic attempt if used used on books because readers simply will not get the sudden shock since they ahev to imagine it first, and by the time they are done, it’s not shocking anymore. With movies, trying to scare a viewer using storyline is not as efficient, because it is not like scaring suddenly that make people jump off their seat kind of scary, but gives people goosebumps fot eh whole nigh kind of scary. The readers can better imagine the storyine and hwo the characters look like using a book, and it does not require sudden random scary stuff kind of scary, so it is more efficient in expressing this kind of story.

Journal 68: My Style

I do not think I have any distinctive styles, i don’t really care about what cloths I wear as long as its not power rangers or ben ten t-shirts or something related to that. I don’t generally care about a lot of stuff other than star wars.
I do not enjoy anything too special. I listen to music like everybody elese, also gets addicted to video games, read a few books when good ones come out, like pretty much what the majority like, like percy Jackson, harry potter and stuff, and dislike what others hate, like Justin bieber and the twilight book series. I hate on twilight even though I have never read them before.
I guess I am not really a nerd, since I do a lot of sports and try to mix my activity up a bit, but I do play the game and is addicted to a game called world of warcraft, so I guess I can be classified as a wow nerd. I am not really coo either, don’t really skateboard or anything since I short of felt uncomfortable. I don’t really go out socialize and anything much. So yeah, not nerdy, not cool, just a very average guy

Journal 67: Betrayal

In the essay/poem we discussed about in the class, the little Japanese girl friendship got messed up by world war two, therefore abandoning her in her most depressed time, and thus betraying them. The American girl accuses the Japanese of starting the world war two and also of them telling secrets to the Japanese. The girl responded by giving her seeds and tell her shell miss her when the tree is fully grown, the girl will miss the Japanese. I think what she means is that by the time the tree si fully grown, she would have realized that the Japanese girl is innocent and the whole thing is a folly to blame it on innocent citizens just because they are Asian. I think it is a very effect response, because its all like wise words and stuff , short of like what a kung fu master will say, perhaps yoda will say this as well, but with very poor grammer.
I have been betrayed before. I told a friend before a secret and went to play basketball, by the time I got back, the whole school year know about the secret. It was quite embarrassing and my friends called his toher friends and mocked me and try to start a fight on yahoo messenger. I really don’t understand what is going on until much later.

Journal 66: Real American

In the passage in response to the executive order 9066, the author was a little girl that claims to have a lot of things in common with the other Americans. She thinks she is a real American because she is adapted to tis culture and uses other eating utensils instead of chopsticks, and that she like food most other Americans like. She thinks that she is a true American because she spent a lot of time there and learned its culture. i do not think those things are convincing, because this is just stereotypical image of an average American, yet many have different preferences and culture. The Japanese girl . In my opinion, is just trying to fit in and getting use the environment? To be a true citizen of a country is to have utter loyalty with it, to support your country and to take a stand, even against stronger forces, not just to immigrant to the most powerful country in the world and act that you are born there and that it is cooler, those kind of citizen will be the first to betray their country once war started or when the country begins to decline. If I were to prove that I am a real Taiwanese, i will understand its fundamental ideas and support democracy, I will not go running around waving my passport nor will I lie that I am something else. I will be pissed when idiots thinks that Jeremy Lin is from communist china. I will be pissed when no one heard of Taiwan before T_T. I will get mad when people purchase Samsung products. I don’t think that the last requirement necessary proves me as a Taiwanese, but it shows that at least I care.

Journal 65: General Conditions

Camp in camp harmony is not bad, and is very neat and very unified. There is no technology there, but the passage did described lights and how they turned the lights out. There must be electricity there, and basic service like water and things
. From the picture, the camp seems alright. The story did not have mention any hateful comments about the camp, nor extreme distaste. The girl in the passage only mentioned very little discontent. The camp is okay I guess, because the story is written in depressing tone and not really filled with hatred. My generalization of the camp is threat it is okay, not really meant to harm people, unlike the Jews concentration camp, which kills jews in mass umbers. I think camp pas is boring as well, it does not allow technology for gaming and is generally the same as the Japanese camp, it has electricity there, but is used only as illumination and fans. Both camps are pretty similar and the only difference is camp pas is meant to entertain, while camp harmony is meant to protect the united states from japenese residents causing revolts, which is very unlikely and very stupid, because they only cage Japanese and not Germans, nor Italian

Journal 64: Camp Harmony

Harmony means peacefullness and content within. It is often used to describe nature or soft music. It is often used in chinese culture. It is also the key idea of Buddhism, where you need to find inner peace and harmony within oneself. The camp in the book cannot be described as camp harmony, because the Japanese are there due to a war, and did not go there by their free will. Thus it is not peaceful nor hamorious. The camp itself looks quite peaceful, with little activity and everything is very orderly, it does look harmous from the outside, but the main reason of its construction and is reason is due to war and nothing related to peacefulness, it is also very racesist to lock only Japanese and not Italian, nor german.
If I will give a name for it, I will call it camp pas, because both camp forces the attenders to attend, it is both mandatory. Another reason it is very similar to camp pas is because no techonolgy is allowed, or provided, there, the description of the hous does nto invlude a television, nor does camp pas. So, the conlcution is that this camp should not eb called camp harmony, it should be called camp pas instead

Journal 63: Camp Pictures

I say a very peaceful and quiet camp, the sky is very blue and cloudless, and everything looks very peaceful and for some reason the whole community reminds me of somewhere in afrika where the donators help build houses etc. there is nine electricity or telephone poles in the picture, which provides the information that there is outside connection. I shorta guessed it is a concentration camp even before mister McCool announced, and I think its quite decent one, there is things to provide for electricity camp. I think I will be ok there as long as we get to live peacefullya dn have tv and internet connection, and no killing the people. This one’s way better htan the jew camp I guess. The place looks quite deserted except a single person standing in the middle of the place. It might be in the middle of the afternoon where it is the hottest and also the in the middle of the summer. The place looks very organized and all the houses looks the same, I would perefer more vegetation and a little bit of variety and maybe some stores to get junk food and drinks from. I guess it’s a concentration camp so you might not be that comfortable there. So my answer is I prefer where I live at the moment. yay

Journal 62: Spring Break

This spring break the thing I wanted to do most is to take a break from video games and to have fun outdoors. And that is exackly what I got . me and my classmates went to bali club med for a graduation trip for 5 days and ti was amazing. The resort( that’s where we stayed at 80% of the time) offers every single kind of popular sport worldwide courts and even scuba diving. The fishes are awesome and I didn’t even believe those kind of things actually existed, because I have never really seen it before and it is bizarre and wonderful at the same time. After I got back form club med, io went right back to playing video games. I wanted to do more worldly wise, and I actually did. So I did everything I planned for and it was a fun spring break in general. I did all what I wanted to do and did even more, the only thing that I missed out is going back to live in Taichung, which isn’t really big deal since I can go there any weekend if I want to.
So in general, spring break is way better than last years and also a lot of fun, especially the bali trip, how many graduation trip can u get in a life time?
