Journal 31: Compare and Contrast Dogs

I have two types of animals which I encounter with a lot, in fat thus two types of animals are my pets. So today I will compare my pet dog toby to my pet beetle

  I liked both of them very much, and both are awesome in their own ways my beetle doesn’t really do much, but was really good to observe and look at, while my interacts and plays with me all the time.

  To compare both animals, I think Toby has emotions and actually can fell what you are feeling and sometimes snuggle with you to show compassion and will come to us if we call his name and actually knowing he is called Toby, he will even bark when my mother or father hits me , as if to stop a fight. So I think there are intelligence In there. My beetle on the other hand, seldom come out of the soil and when I try to touch him, he either runs away or bite me. He never really does anything and ignores me when I tried to bugg him, so I think the beetle ahs no emotion, and is its brain is only filled with instincts.

  Both pets have its own unique personality but to be honest I prefer my dog better, since it does a lot more stuff and shows its emotions.

ournal 30: Thanksgiving

Today is thankgiving, we are reallty happy about the luch and the day in general, every class was losen up a bit, and the teacher tries to make the class as enjoyable an d as easy going as possible. The luch was really great and pretty dieicious.

  I am really thankful of what the school has done for us to pepar such a good lunch. I think its mainly the paresnts who is preparing the food, but I think the school organized the things and ordered the turkeys.

  I am also very thankful to my family, who raised me and cared for me for such a long time, and I would prefer if they continue doing so in the near future.

 I am also really thankful to George lucas, for creating star wars, which is a awesome movie series. Without him, star wasr would’ve have existed, and the awesome video games by lucas arts as well. For example star wars battlefront, star wars the force unleashed, and a lot more.

 And finally I wanna thank my teachers for teaching me, but not for assigning us a lot of homework and a lot of hard tests.

Journal 29: Heroes Revisited

From Answers.com

 In the two definitions above, of those two definitions got almost the same meanings, they both include courage and bravery and ability and his great deed and actions, but they also have  a lot of descriptions and additional meaning that makes them different of each other.

  The meaning from answers .com says that a hero has to be from a legend or a mythology, the meaning form dictionary.com didn’t mention this. I disagree with the meaning from answers.com, since a hero can be from modern days as well, like a firefighter or a doctor who sacrifice their time or got themselves into danger to save others.

  The meaning for answers.com also includes being favored by god, which we don’t know if it is true or not, but I don’t think heros have to be favored by god to be hero’s, in fact, a lot of hero dies to save others.

  I think I prefer the meaning from dictionary.com since it is short and to the point, the one from answers.com however, is too long and adds terms that does not really have to be there and messes up the meaning. It contradicts with people who are called a hero, and I does not necessary have to be favored by gods

Journal 28: Great, Old Knowledge

In the story in trouble, the author mentioned how similar the animals are to human, how they have emotion and sense of humor, and how they came to his aid. He also mentioned that the animals have an ancient knowledge that us humans have lost.

  I think that knowledge that the author refers to that dog that what we have lost is instinct, us humans gradually come to ignore of lost our instinct once we learn more things and knowledge and starts to replace instinctive action to thinking, and we have forgotten to use our senses to appreciate our surroundings and acknowledge our emotions. We mask our emotions with false sincerely, ling and other things. Our actions and think has been contaminated, and I think the dogs; on the other hand have used their instinct and trusted on them and as they grow, wheir sinking combines with their instinct. They stay loyal, do what they really want to do, and expresses their emotion very well even if it gets them into danger.

   So I think us human should rely on our instinct more, and do what we believe is right , like the loyal animals who helped us, and we that knowledge we lost is instinct, the most useful knowledge of all.

Journal 27: Animal v Human

It has been scientifically proven that human is a kind of animal, so I don’t really see the point of this journal; I have to assume it is a comparison between human and other animals.

 I find human and other animals very similar, for we all do the same stuff mostly, we all hive, eat other animals or eat plant, drink water, and sleeps. We all grow up and have offspring, and we will all care about them and try to get the children to have the best future possible. I encounter animals by having a dog at my house. I found out that a dog’s personality is actually quit similar to a humans, since it gets angry when it is mistreated, happy when playing, and took care of there children and will attack anyone that threatens them. And after encountering a lot of dogs, I found out that each dog has its own temper and personality, so I think they are very much similar to humans.

  So overall I think human and other animals have a lot in common, including, feelings, personality, and the way we live and took care of our young. The only difference I think that separates us are intelligence, which might not be true since we would never really know what a animal is thinking about. 

Journal 26: Game Character

Since the story is about stopping the aliens form going back into the past and murdering certain historical heroes and try to cause chaos in order to invade earth; you will have to be pretty badass and will be able to predict where who and when the aliens will appear and murder what historical character. So I think the best and most logical solution is that the one of the characters would have to be an alien itself and would have to give technology and information to stop the aliens

   So I created the main character, who would be a human being working for eh national alien defense center. His name will be Bob, he was fascinated as a child by aliens and would want to discover more about them, and his cunning computer hacking skills plus his amazing physical ability got him hired to their agency. Bob looks like any other security guard, people with a bunch of muscle; he is shaved bald, and has red eyes. He feels really loyal and wants to help save his world, even form aliens, which he likes a lot. He soon made quick friends with the alien spy and traded technology so he can stop the assassins. His main motivation is to stop his world form being attacked, and also to form peace between the two races

Journal 25: EMERGENCY

A lot of movies has those last second save like disableing the bomb at the last second or like jump out of the building and walking really slow with the building exploding behind them and they just take off the sunglasses and trying to look really badass. But in real life, emergies means life and death situations, and one misstep, or one single flaw in you movement, the position of one of your celss , would cause your death.  A lot of people in real life experienced emergicies, nut seldom lived to tell the tale. In the recent Japanese earthquake, thousands of houses are washed awain, and over 18,000 People died. The same happens in the Indian tsunami, where people are just washed away from the shore.

    In the typical movies, the hero are always calm and brave when an emergency occurs, they always act immediately and rush back to help the injured and traped behind, and ther complanion wil;l always say “ you are mad’ and “it is impossible” or something like that. If I were to experience an emergency, I think I would just panic and stand there and wait for death, and I think I won’t be able to make myself move.

Journal 24: Setting in Art

In the artwork, the background is mostly white, and decorated with some buildings in the top right corner in the drawing, and I think the background is based on a village who is just experiencing a snowstorm. In the center of the picture there is a cow, and within the belly there was a bird colored in red, ( if I remembered well enough.) next tot eh cow there is a knight who wears plate armor and has a house popping out between his legs. I think that was kind of weird; in fact, the whole picture makes me feel very uncomfortable. The who paint has a midevial- ish painting, and those with eyes that are staring into the distance, and not directly at you, like the mona lisa- which makes it less creepy to look at.

   The painting looks unrealistic, and I think its going more towards a mood expressing direction. it is mostly based on cold color which are blue, white, black and maybe purple.

   The birld in th e center is kinda weird, because I think the painting doesn’t really make sense, and I cannot possibly get a grip on what it was trying to express. So yeah, it was a weird picture with cold color.

Journal 23: Game Conflict

I have played a lot of video games, of which a few that I really enjoyed and liked. That is because , in my opinion most of the game these days only cares about graphics and gaming experience, but not the story , nor the conflict.

  The game I think is the most boring is call of duty. I always skip the cutscenes, but all yo do in the game is go around and shottign people. I like the graphics, yes: but you will get bored of it if everyting just repeat itself, aim boom! Aim Boom!

So with my game, I wish it would notbe as boring as call of duty. As I said in the previous journal the setting is about time travel.

  the idea is think is pretty good, but what of the enemy? So I Ive decided that their si going to be aliens attacking, but they lack the numbers to attack earth by military actions, so they sent assassin back in time to kill important historical figures and chause chaos, they have already got Abram Lincoln murdered after the civil war.

It is your job to protect the historical figures and eliminate any alien assisins. 

Journal Entry 22: Game Setting

   I have enjoyed countless video games since I got my laptop( which my dad regrets every giving one) and all for them are pretty good with good story line and awesome settings and graphics, but of all I enjoyed the mmorpg World of Warcraft the most.

  The game itself I set in three continents and the world is real massive. You get to explore the world and fight npcs, each stronger than the previous. This is was what I like about the game, the ability to do whatever you wish go where ever you want.

  This is what I would want my game to be, free will instead of an interactive movie like call of duty and battlefield 3. I would want to make players able to explore and have as much freedom as possible.

   The setting of the game will be time travel; players will be able to travel back in time and do whatever they want, and it will effect he future and you’re an travel back and see what the outcome is. So if you assassinate Lincoln, in the future the U.S will still have slaves and it would be some white dude as president instead of Obama

Journal Entry 21: Describe a Place You Know

There are a lot of places that I have been through, and the place I have the most memories of is of course the one I have spent more than half of my life in, which is my house, I remember description about my study room in the past few journal, and my house in general is pretty much the same thing.

  My house is pretty humid, and most of the time it feels really hot. It makes me feel really safe when I am in it, as I suppose what most people feel about their homes. My house composed of 4 floors, from the basement to the place where we dry our cloths. The basement is really dark and almost always cold, I always try to avoid it since I think it is really gloomy and scary. On the ground floor is the living room. It is usually very bright in the day and I spent most of my time there, so does my family. It is very warm and comfortable. On the second floor is my studying room, which is very comfortable and a little messy due to the stacked up workbooks and the worksheets lying around the place. Next to it is my grandpa’s room. It is really dusty and makes me sneeze a lot, but I often go in there to bug my grandpa. On the third floor is my bedroom and also my parents. My parents’ bedroom is huge and also very comfy. But the room I like the most is my bedroom, because in my opinion I think the size of the room is just right, and also it the walls are painted with bright colors that made me feel cheerful.

Journal Entry 18: Setting

 I have been on his world for thirteen years now, and have been to a lot of places, of all each and everyplace gave me different feelings and memories, some fainter than the others.  I don’t really observe that much about my surroundings as others did, so I really only know them based on the appearance, what it does to my senses, and any notable memories that I have at that place.

   To me, I think that the auditorium in my school is very cold. Not because of aircon, but because I always felt cold when I’m nervous, and I felt very nervous that day in the auditorium, in which the speech contest took place. The place that makes me really happy is my house. Because I basically spent half of my life here and this is the only place I can go besides school.

  Just like other people, graveyards make me uncomfortable, and temple makes me fell safe. I think the place I have most memories of is my house, which makes me feel really happy can free, since its quite big. My house also has a woody and humid smell, and gives me a familiar and happy feeling

Journal Entry 20: The Influence of Setting

I think a setting will affect the plot and characters a lot, and usually more than the reader would know. A setting ,a s the name suggests,can “Set”the whole story. The settings can literally chage the whole thing, even the characters fate. Even If the character’s characteristics are the same, the thing will change everything; and also the reader’s moods. If the setting is in the will west, even if the main character’s characteristics are the same, the story will still make a lot of difference. The steeing would also limit a story as well, a story about a realistic time in the past will not have spaceships flying around to zap people, that would more likely happen in a sci-fi.

   In my own setting, I am a kid living in Taiwan, during 2011. I go to a school with white walls surrounding me and make me depressed always. Since I went to a depressing school, my life is not really happy as well, because I’m having day- javos every second and nothing interesting ever happens.

   So, as you can see, a setting effects the story a lot, it might even change the main characteristics moods and characteristics later on,  causing the whole plot to change
